Problem from OSF/Motif to OpenMotif

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on

Hello,
I have problems with UIL code that works with OSF/Motif but not with OpenMotif on Red Hat 4. Main problems concern position of widgets inside a Form container.
Where could I find documentation about this ?
Do you know particular problems when porting UIL code from Unix to Linux ?
Thank you for your help,
Estelle

Strange... It shouldn't happen. I assume that you are using attachments etc. and that we're not seeing the results of different fonts etc. on Linux?

Anyway to narrow this down to a simple example that people can play with?

Yes, I use attachements, but it's hard for me to give an example because I mix ADA and UIL. Anyway, the UIL part is very simple ... A Form contains several Label, Text, Separator and PushButtons, and attachements don't work for Separator and PushButtons.

I saw this posted on another forum here (Porting Motif). Not sure if this is relevant, but it does mention functional changes in the UIL compiler behavior.

---
In Motif 2.0, TOG changed the behavior of the UIL compiler
such that objects are now created "exported" by default,
rather than "private".

I believe, your issue could be caused by this alteration.

Take a look at
http://bugs.motifzone.net/show_bug.cgi?id=1112

Don`t you have the same problem?

I did get someone to produce a UIL file similar to as you described. It works on OM 2.2+. If you will email me privately (m*hat*ch at i*c*s dot com - remove * and spaces), I'll send you a copy so that you can test it in your environment.
